Access your pension on your own terms

As part of the recent 2015 pension freedoms you no longer have to give away your lifetime pension savings for a fixed income for life (called a pension annuity). Flexible pensions allows you access to withdraw as much or as little retirement income as you wish, keeping your savings pot invested and gaining greater control and flexibility in retirement.

However, this is not the right solution for all clients and therefore a pension annuity can provide a valuable guaranteed lifetime income. As independent advisers we consider all options and provide advice on what’s best for each individual client.

The Process

Our investment review service will give you peace of mind and help you understand your portfolio:

  • Initial Meeting

The cost of the initial meeting is met by us. This is an opportunity for you to find out more about The Investment Advice Company and for us to see how and if we can help you. At the end of the initial meeting, if you are happy to proceed we will discuss our options of services and agree which best fits your requirements. We may need to ask you to sign a document to authorise The Investment Advice Company to access information on your existing investments and any other plans you hold that we do not have details for. We will then discuss timescales going forward and arrange our next meeting.

  • Getting to Know You Meeting

We will have a more detailed discussion around your current circumstances and record this so that we can ensure our advice is tailored to your specific needs. This may take place immediately after the initial meeting or more usually at a future meeting. ‘Getting to know you’ is an ongoing process as your circumstances change over time. We will complete a detailed fact find to help us understand and test your knowledge and experience of financial planning. We will also complete a risk questionnaire to help us understand and agree your attitude towards investment risk. We will then report back on the plans you hold and discuss current charges and investment holdings and see how they fit into your overall plan once we have a better understanding of their nature and cost structure.

  • Prepare and Discuss Recommendations

Once we have completed our research your adviser will then prepare the detailed recommendations which will be personalised and based on the discussions you have had. You will be given the recommendations in writing in a suitability report along with any product illustrations and key features documents. You will have time to review the recommendations at a further meeting with your adviser. It is important to us that you fully understand and are happy with what is being recommended so we encourage you to ask questions and discuss the recommendations in detail with your adviser

  • Agree the Way Forward

You may decide to proceed with some or all of the recommendations proposed. Once agreed, your adviser will assist you with the preparation of any paperwork that is required and submit it on your behalf.

  • Ongoing Advice

We will keep you informed on the progress of any applications you have submitted. Once everything is complete you will receive a confirmation letter along with any documents that you need to keep. You will receive an on-going service to help keep your long term financial goals on track.
